Natural England says it's restarting work to try and extend both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.
It would like to include areas such as the Howgills, the Orton Fells and the fells from Shap to Whinfell so they're properly protected.
Natural England had to halt the project last year to clarify some legal issues but the work's now back on track.
