A leading mountaineering official says the cost of climbing Everest from the Nepal side is too much.

The cost of a permit alone is around $10,000 and the entire trip costs at least $25,000.

Chief of the Union of Asian Alpine Associations, Ang Tshering Sherpa, says the price is scaring climbers across the border to attempt the world's highest summit from Tibet.
