Spring is springing merrily, and there's no better place to celebrate than in the pages of Country Walking!
Our epic April issue showcases the very best of spring, with your indispensable guide to what to spot, great ideas on where best to watch Britain come back to life, and an exploration of what makes spring walking so special.
We're also celebrating river walks by following one of the UK's most varied and exciting waterways from source to sea, encountering Yorkshire mountains, Roman soldiers, exotic tearooms and the odd orc from Lord of the Rings.

We've also gone in search of graffiti walks where you'll find everything from caveman wall-scrawl to the witty madness of urban guerilla Banksy.
In the gear tests we're slicing up trousers and fleeces, and we also track down the best kit for wildlife-watching.
PLUS: How to walk Striding Edge, what to pack in your spring lunchbox, how to flu-proof your walking and the cover of an album by The Who.
Country Walking April 2009: love the spring.
