You can join the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) for just for just £14.75 until the end of June - a bargain for what you get, and a positive thing to do for walkers' and mountaineers' most proactive representative body.

Annual family membership cost is down from £50.50 to £25.25 too, bringing your whole clan benefits like these:

Access to BMC-only huts, competitions and courses

10% off at hundreds of gear shops, including all Blacks, Cotswold, Millets, Nevisport and Snow + Rock stores

Discounts on Trail and Country Walking and free regular issues of the excellent Summit magazine

Even cheaper comprehensive adventure travel insurance cover

Discounts on travel and accommodation overseas, from SeaFrance ferries to Alpine huts

The BMC isn't just for climbers, but your cool rating will benefit from the association!

There are more selfish benefits too, but perhaps now's a good time to mention the benefits to the greater good joining the BMC brings. You'll be backing them in their fight for access and conservation across the country, helping them foster a love of outdoor sports, personal responsibility and environmental awareness at a grass-roots level and boosting their ability to research and educate in vital outdoor safety fields.

Do you get the impression we think it's a good thing?
