Flying mountains in the blockbuster movie Avatar have inspired Chinese officials to rename one of its mountains.

The officials say the fictional Hallellujah Mountains are based on stunning ranges in the Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province.

Although the real mountains don't actually fly (that would be ridiculous!) the giant pillars do have many of the magical qualities of those featured in the film.

One of these pillars - the 3,544ft Southern Sky Column has been renamed Hallellujiah Mountain in honour of the film.

Avatar tells the story of human colonists who attempt to plunder the natural resources of a planet called Pandora.

It has become the most popular ever movie in China.
