Too be fair, we've probably all thought about it at some time. We love the hills, we love the mountains, we love the scenery, but every so often we wish it wasn't quite such hard work.
Snowdon has multiple ascent options depending on the fitness and ability of those making the climb, including, of course, taking the train - an option that already makes the 1,085m summit accessible to all but the most siderodromophobic*.
You have to wonder, then, what possessed some as yet unknown persons to attempt the journey by car. No, this isn't the latest Top Gear stunt that's about to land Mr Clarkson in more hot water - at least, not as far as we know.
The Vauxhall Frontera 4x4 was discovered approximately 400m from the summit where it appears to have become stuck on the descent. Unsurprisingly, Llanberis Mountain Rescue branded the stunt as "dangerous", with Ian Henderson, the team secretary asking the pertinent question "who's set up to deal with road traffic incidents on the top of Snowdon?”
North Wales Police are investigating the incident while the mountain rescue team work out exactly how they're going to get the car down. We'd hazard a guess that the AA probably won't be responding, although we'd love to be a fly on the wall when that call came in...

*siderodromophobia - fear of trains. Strange but true.
