Gear for kids is often the outdoor manufacturer’s side order rather than the main course, but this is set to change when the Osprey Youth Series of backpacks hits the shops in August.
If you’re keen to get your nippers hooked on the outdoors this summer, invest in an Imp, an adjustable sack designed especially for the smaller frames of 8-16-year-olds with the SpineColorado research institute.
The back systems of these 23, 35 and 48 litre sacks can be adjusted by 12cm at the torso and 10cm at the hipbelt. They combine all the best features from the adult pack range, like spacious head clearance, a built-in rain cover, stretch woven pockets and a ventilated back panel, and they are hydration-compatible.
Better still (for the kids, that is) they can be attached to adult Osprey sacks in case the young ’uns run out of steam by the end of the day.
