Experts are on hand to give you a 'Gear MOT' this weekend.

Langdale / Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team are setting up their own 'check-point' in the Lake District on Saturday.

The team will offer gear checks and give advice as to what kit you'll need for walking in the hills and to the potential dangers this winter.

There will also be various essentials for sale, such as compasses, maps, torches and whistles should you need them.

The team has had a 15% increase in callouts this year and says "there is an alarming increase in the number of ill-equipped and ill-prepared people going on to the hill".

The check point will be Stickle Barn car park - a popular access point to the Langdale fells - from 8am to 10.30am.
