World’s lightest weather-resistant jacket

Montane reckon their new breathable, water- and wind-resistant £50 Slipstream jacket, out now, is the lightest around with its minimal seams and new Pertex Quantum Superlight fabric, the lightest the brand has used yet. This 85g jacket (Men’s size M) is completely stripped down, with a full-length zip, articulated sleeves, elasticated cuffs and reflective dots and is suited to high energy activities like walking, running and biking for prolonged periods when ultra low weight is absolutely critical.

The Slipstream Gilet will also become available this Sept for £40, featuring Pertex Quantum on the front and mesh down the back, making it a good wind- and water-resistant chest protector for running and cycling.

Making friends with the earth, Montane have just lauched £25 Eco T-shirts made of recycled polyester from old work wear like old hospital and factory uniforms, which can be recycled afterwards and turned into polyester yarn for making clothing and bedding. Simply send old clothes back to Montane. Watch out for more on Montane’s eco-range in Trail’s June 09 issue, in shops May 21st.

Montane also let slip that they are currently tweaking their lightweight waterproof jackets for winter 2009/10.
