Berghaus Explorer boots improved
For this March, Berghaus have updated and improved their popular explorer range of boots.
Explorer Light
A completely new boot and the lightest yet in the Explorer range at 1130g (men’s pair size 8). The weight saving comes from using fabric tape instead of metal eyelets for the laces and less panelling material on the sides.
Who should buy this boot?
Fair-weather walkers, who want a highly breathable, waterproof Gore-Tex shoe use in good conditions in the UK and Europe. At £85 it’s a goodie for first timers.
Explorer Trek
This is a direct replacement for Explorer Five, and is basically the same boot but with re-styled with upgraded meshes and more abrasion resistant materials.
Who should buy this boot? Walker who want a sturdy, well insulated 3-season boot that is relatively light at 1198g (men’s pair size 8) and reasonably priced at £90.
Explorer Ridge
The material has been improved to provide a panelled boot using the best quality leather that Berghaus could find.
Who should buy this boot? Walkers who want a traditional feeling 3-season boot that’s relatively breathable and lined with Gore-Tex at a relatively light weight (1196g for a men’s pair size 8) and a good price at £100.
Sneak preview...
For Spring and Summer 2010, if your brain stretches that far ahead, Berghaus will launch new low-cut trail walking shoes and yet more new boots, more details to come later this year, keep watching the gear blog.
How they make carabiners
