Projected for launch in Spring 2009, Osprey are designing an outdoor pack made from 70% recycled materials.
The prototype of the Atmos Resource 50 was nominated for the Eco Design Award at the recent ISPO 2008 Trade Fair. Although it didn’t win, Osprey still believe in their sack, and are determined to bring from the drawing board into production.
“We didn’t create it as a concept to look good, we’re committed to being green and using sustainable materials,” says Martin Garnish, Marketing and Technical Support Manager for Osprey.
Everyone's problem
“I think ecological issues are affecting all industries, they’re everyone’s problem. Walkers are especially concerned about the environment, and anything we can do to preserve it has got to be helpful.”
Osprey’s widely acclaimed Resource range of eco-friendly urban packs launched in 2007, but this is the first time they’ve looked at developing a similar bag for hill walkers.
The company says the 50-litre pack will be built with the same exacting standards as all their equipment, and will be able to handle the same abuse on the hills as their regular Alpine performance sacks.
