Berghaus has taken the wraps off its new top-end mountaineering gear for next autumn and winter at a secret Lake District briefing.
The range will be led by the Extrem collection, which sees the gear manufacturer attempt to reinforce its reputation among climbers. Top mountaineer Andy Kirkpatrick has played a central role in the design of the new Extrem range, and developments in Extrem products will cascade down through future Berghaus ranges.
Ferocious elements
The Attrition jacket will spearhead the new range of clothing and rucksacks, and packs a host of new features to take on ferocious high altitude elements. The 3 Layer Gore-Tex Pro Shell jacket has an ingeniously engineered Raptor hood that fits equally snugly over a helmet or bare head, and includes a vented mask for face protection.
The new £300 jacket also borrows wetsuit technology in its ‘Gasket’ cuffs for super waterproofing of the sleeves during winter climbing.
The new Extrem range goes on sale in September 2008.
