On the Ajungilak stand at the OutDoor Show 2008 in Friedrichshafen, Germany, the new Shield sleeping bag towers over everyone present on its plinth at the centre of their product display.
This is the brand's latest innovation, a waterproof sleeping bag with bonded seams which they claim is the lightest on the market - 15% lighter than the competition, like the recently launched Crux Torpedo 500 that Trail's tech ed Graham Thompson reviewed earlier this year.
It is incredibly light, at 500g for the 195cm model with two half zips and a 800 goose down fill. This makes it just under half the weight of the Torpedo 500, however the Ajungilak model is a two-season bag with a comfort rating of -2 deg C, while the Crux model will see you sleeping warmly down to -10 deg C.
At 340 pounds, the Ajungilak Sheild is 10 pounds more expensive than the Crux Torpedo 500, but if you want to ditch your bivy bag in hotter climates next summer, it might be just the bag for you.
