Thanks to all those who voted for the most worthy eco-project 2010.

We are delighted to announce the winner is the Bumblebee Conservation Trust for its Pembrokeshire project, which the EOG Association for Conservation will now support to the tune of EUR30,000.

Pembrokeshire Coast Path

Conservation Officer for the Trust, Dr Pippa Raynor, says: "This is absolutely fantastic news, we are absolutely delighted!

"This is not only brilliant news for the shrill carder bee and other bumblebees but for a whole host of birds and beasties that need more wildflower grasslands in Pembrokeshire!

"We are so pleased that the project seems to have captured the public's enthusiasm and support and thank each and every person who voted. We can't wait to get started and begin restoring wildflower habitats for bumblebees in Pembrokeshire!"

Association for ConservationThe EOG Association for Conservation is made up of a large group of outdoor brands and retailers across Europe that each year put money back into the environment through on-the-ground conservation projects worldwide.

Tanya Bascombe, General Manager of the Association said, "I would really like to thank all the LFTOers for getting involved and helping us choose a project to support for 2010.

"Our members will shortly be voting for the remaining six projects that we will fund this year, but it is great to be able to get Trail and Country Walking readers involved alongside their favourite outdoor brands and see what really matters to you."

We will revisit the project in six months to see how it's getting on and give you an update on progress.
