An Evening of Endeavour is a charity event being held at the Royal Geographic Society on Thursday 2nd February 2012 in aid of the Light Dragoons Colonel's appeal.
It will be a night of talks given by adventurers who all have a military link - most have served or are still serving in the Army.
Some of the speakers you may have heard of, such as Ed Stafford (walking the Amazon) and Lucy Rivers Bulkeley (the first European woman to complete the 4 Desert Challenge in one calendar year). Others, such Capt Guy Disney and Capt James Kayll who are serving Light Dragoons and have recently trekked to the north pole (Walking with the Wounded as shown on BBC) and rowed the Indian Ocean respectively, have equally epic tales to relate.
Tickets to the event cost £25 with proceeds going to the Light Dragoons Colonel's appeal. To purchase tickets of for more information on the evening, including details of all the speakers, visit the Evening of Endeavour's website HERE.
About the charity
The aim of the Light Dragoons Colonel's appeal is to give enduring support to Light Dragoons wounded on operations or in regimental service, to their families, and to the families of those killed on duty.
"Much has been made in recent years of the Military Covenant, that lifelong contract between the Serviceman and his Country. Much has been done, both by government and national charities. Nevertheless, the Regimental family will always need to play its part in that enduring contract as the natural, first port of call: to fill any gaps that the State cannot provide, or to act as the catalyst to encourage other, larger charities to help. The launching of The Light Dragoons Colonel's Appeal is to ensure that we can continue to do this."
Major General ARE de C Stewart CB CBE, Colonel of the Regiment
