Entry for the fifth annual Young Landscape Photographer of the Year Award is now open and under-16s have until mid-July to upload their pictures for a chance to win £1,000 and a two-day photography workshop with renowned landscape photographer Charlie Waite.

The award was set up by international photographer Charlie Waite to encourage children to engage with their surroundings through the art of photography.

There is both a Junior and an Adult section to the award and there are four exciting categories which can be entered:

Classic view is the category for landscape photography in its purist form; sweeping views that capture the beauty and splendour of the UK’s landscapes in one image.
Living the view is the category for images of people interacting with the outdoors – working or playing in the UK landscape.
Your view allows the entrants to express what the UK landscape means to them through photography. It is a way to comment on the way we treat our landscapes and a chance to provide a new way of looking at our environment.
Urban view is a category for pictures taken in cities and towns. With almost 80% of the UK population living in built-up areas, the landscapes that we connect with on a day-to-day basis are increasingly of an urban nature.

There is still just time to enter this year’s Take a view - Landscape Photographer of the Year competition. The 2011 Awards are held in association with Network Rail and the closing date for entries is 15th July 2011. All images must be of the UK and entry fees apply. Full details and entry information can be found at www.take-a-view.co.uk.
