Facility information

Ferociously remote, and wreathed in whispers of the supernatural, this impressively rugged and complex mountain requires commitment and perseverence just to get to its base. But a bothy and the feeling of being Way Out There more than make up for the stretch.

A real quality walk. The walk into the Culra Bothy is a killer, we walked it, but bikes are far more sensible! We got up at 3am to climb up in the dark. Route is fairly easy, as long as you avoid the cliffs! We climbed up through the clouds and watched the sunrise. Was amazing views, like being in another world, high above the cloud! A great walk, but a long one!!

This one takes a concerted effort to get to, being 10 miles from the nearest road just to get to Culra bothy, which is probably the most obvious jumping off point for an ascent. From here, the most obvious route is up the Long Leuchas, which offers some mild scrambling. The views from the top are extensive, as it's right in the middle of the Central Highlands.
