Black Hill's my least favourite Peak District hill, although my husband and I did still enjoy our walk up there. We went up from Crowden, following the Pennine Way to the summit. Even the flagged parts of the way were about 6 inches underwater in places. The summit has a causeway across a huge peaty puddle and they stuck the trig point in the driest bit of ground they could find. We left the Pennine Way and headed back to Crowden through a morass of thick, treacly peat. My husband went up to his waist in a peat bog, so best not to go up there alone.
