Loughrigg Fell

Loughrigg is a lovely little fell to climb. It's brilliant for children and has fantastic views from the top on a good day. Take the route from Ambleside and down towards Grasmere and up through Rydal Hall for some gorgeous scenery. If you are lucky a tornado plane will fly by as you make your way down towards Grasmere !

Loughrigg is one of those must visit fells. Easily walked from Ambleside giving splendid views over lake Windermere. Incorporate this fell into a walk around Grasmere and Rydal water and you have one of the most splendid walks in Lakeland. This fell is suitable for walkers of any age and easily walked in most weather conditions.

We love Loughrigg. We go to the Lake District at least 4 times a year, for weekends or longer, courtesy of a generous friend who lends us his cotttage. Every time we climb or circumnavigate Loughrigg. As Wainright observed it is a Fell in miniature, and has something for everyone.

Loughrigg is my favourite fell, of all the ones if climbed. It takes no effort at all and can be easily conquered in an hour. I have spend many hours on loughrigg just admiring the view and the sunsets are amazing. It is now a tradition to climb loughrigg as soon as we reach ambleside, after traveling all day in the car. As we can climb it in the late evening. I climbed it with no walking gear and dolly shoes on. I love this hill !!!!
