And so it'll be with this. I've read it described as a merely moderate fell. But having turned up on a recent bank holiday mid-morning, my first time in the Lakes, or anywhere like it, and having bought a small book of walks and looked only at what it said about distance and time, not height, the memory of walking up Pike o' Blisco will stay with me. Stopping even half way up and looking around me, it seemed strange to think that this wan't a world famous mountain. How could anything be as beautiful as what I was looking at right then? Even if I do see more stunning sights in the years to come (and from the little reading I've done since, it seems I'm almost guaranteed to), Pike o' Blisco was my first. It opened my eyes to what's out there, and I'll always be grateful for that.
