A handy vantage point for anyone visiting Tarn Hows.If you are capable of striding out to take the detour, then the view is worth it. Its central location allows views of Coniston, The Langdales, Windemere and Esthwaite.
Sometimes sheep graze in the field, but at the right time deer, buzzards, green wood peckers, red squirrel and sparrow hawks and the elusive barn owl can be seen.
Watch out for other users of the green lane north of Tarn Hows. 4x4s motorx bikes, mountain bikes and horses use the lane.
