This is the first fell that I took my wife and children up. (aged 5 and 8). It's small but a perfect family walk/climb, with a mixture of riverside walk through woods and steep climb up an old slate pile. The views at the top are stunning, especially the view over Borrowdale, Lakeland's loveliest valley. There's enough variety to keep everyone interested, with caves and a quarry to explore. A great family introduction to the Lakeland Fells. Start and end in the village of Grange, where there's a lovely tea shop.
