Walking from Kentucky Farm in Waldendale. A good steady climb with a fairly good path most of the way. Dissappears a bit over some blanket bog but has the odd marker post. Beware if the cloud is low as navigation can be difficult here as there are few features available. The summit is past the memorial with a diversion to the opposite side of the wall just past the RAF Memorial. This has been set up by the National Park to combat serious erosion problems. It is well signposted. Superb views from the top on a clear day. The blocks of flats at Gateshead near the Angel of the North can be seen from here when clear. Beware not to stray off the path on the way back as not all the land is open as per the CROW act, and the gamekeeper can be a bit grumpy!

A popular Dales hill with a variety of ascent routes, the most popular is from the c.p. in Buckden,N along Buckden Rake then following the sinposted peth up to the summit. Two other interesting routes from the car park are 1)to follow the National Trust Centenary path behind the village then,on meeting the path from Starbotton cut back up towards the old lead mines and along to the summit or 2)direct from the car park follow the beck up the fellside coming out within sight of the summit. This route is quite scrambly and needs a good head and best avoided in icy weather. The route from Srarbotton lead one past the Polish memorial to an aircrew lost in WW11 before following the wall to the summit.
