Facility information

Dartmoor is a huge, high-level plateau scattered with over 150 granite tors that make for excellent walking, scrambling and climbing targets. Dartmoor is a spooky, wild place dotted with military installations, and Yes Tor – while not the highest point – is certainly a highlight.

Best route: from Okehampton, combined with the nearby High Willhays.

Although Yes Tor is not the highest hill on dartmoor, that honour goes to High Willhays,it certainly more spectactular. and with a Tor and Trigpoint to boast its much more worth topping. Yes Tor is also classified as: Nuthall, Bridge and Buxton-Lewis

Yes Tor is the highest Tor on Dartmoor at 619m and one of the best. It may not be the largest hill in the country it will feel higher than it is. The walk up is as tough as hills a lot higher. To add to the complications there is not a clear foot path to follow so good navigation skills are required, this is what makes it feel more isolated and bigger than it is. On getting to the summit you are given views to the north and to the south the rest f dartmoor opens out in fromt of you. When combined with other hills in the area you will be rewarded with one of the best hill days you could have.

This was the first biggish hill I walked up when I was six years old with my Dad. It was ten tors weekend and he was there waiting for his team to finish. I have since been up quite a few times now. It is a lovely little hill with some nice views of north Devon and across to steeperton tor and west mill tor. Great for a day out and always windy.
