This was my first walk on returning to hill walking and what a way to start. A good path leads up to the beautiful Bleabury tarn where you can stop and take in the view whilst having a spot of lunch before making your way up the steeper slopes to the summit. once on the summit there is a small shelter (much welcome on this day) and views to die for. Crummock one direction Buttermere the other and over your shoulder the gorgeous Ennerdale valley, one of the most beautiful in the Lake District in my opinion. You then have the option of doing the Buttermere ridge over High Stile etc. (as I chose), or coming straight back down by various routes. I couldn't have chosen a better start to a return to fell walking and haven't looked back since...
