Taking advice from other reviews I walked the horseshoe from Wasdale including the high level route past Robinson's cairn and Pillar Rock. Even on this sunny September day much of the high level route was in shade to start with. Once I'd started dropping off the ridge I thought it was going to be a bit of an anticlimax, but not for long as the full view of the northern side of Pillar came into view! The rest of the horseshoe is pretty straight forward although I was feeling tired by the time it came to make the short scramble onto Yewbarrow but well worth it, and with clear weather the views were just brilliant.
