Facility information

The most shapely of the Coniston peaks, Wetherlam’s situation at the southern edge of Langdale makes its views extraordinary – described succinctly by Wainwright as like a ‘giant whale surfacing above waves of lesser hills.’ When you see it, you’ll agree.
Best route: brilliant when taken as part of the Greenburn Horseshoe – via Hell Gill Pike and Swirl How from Langdale (NY275013).

This was our first lakes peak climbed, a great experiance until we got to the top and a white out came down. Returned a few days later and enjoyed this mountain in glorious winter sunshine. The views are stunning no matter which direction you turn. Keep an eye on the edges as there are a lot of drop off's. We enjoyed this as part of the Coniston horseshoe and timed it so that we could watch the sunset form Coniston Old Man.
