With the best way being from a service road off the A5 it starts dull on a tarmac road but as you near the cwm it fades to a path. at the back of the cwm you can see zig-zags and your route up. height is gained fairly quickly untill you reach the ridge. left for carnedd llewelyn and right for the steep nose of pen-yr- helgi du. there is alot of exposure particularly on the left though it is short lived to the top with a nice grassy slope back down if you wish.
