While dwafed by its larger, more famous brethren in the Glyders, Carneddau, and of course Snowdon, Moel Eilio packs a punch well above its weight, largely as a result of the truly astounding views from the top. While many of the routes up leave little to speak of, on a good day, this hill provides a perfect viewing platform for the Glyders, Tryfan, the Carneddau, the Nantlle Ridge, and of course the giant of the area, the Snowdon Massif. Worth climbing if only for this view, combining with the surrounding hills provides a highly recommendable horseshoe route, or for the ultra-fit, a long undulating route onto Snowdon itself. And the best part is, you'll probably have it all to yourself too.
