This glove is a well-established and decent all-rounder. It benefits from Mountain Equipment’s own DriLite Extreme waterproof insert, which helps keeps the price down. Inside, the fleece and pile lining does not snag when you slip your wet hand inside, which makes it really easy to put on. As the glove is precurved and the lining is not too thick, you do get a good level of dexterity, which makes it reasonably easy to operate a compass or adjust zip pullers on jackets or rucksacks. There is a good leather palm for durability and you get a nose wipe and karabiner loop on the forefingers. The cuff is shorter and closer-fitting than most, so it tucks more easily inside the sleeve of a jacket, but does not provide such good protection when fitted outside the sleeve. There is an elasticated wrist leash and a wrist drawcord that can be adjusted with the gloves on. Most models have clips that ensure the gloves stay linked together as a pair in your rucksack but the Mountain Equipment Guide Gloves don’t have that, although you can achieve a similar result by twisting the wrist cords together.
