There is a very good pre-curved profile to Mountain Equipment Guide gloves that make them very comfortable, while the fleece lining makes them reasonably warm too. You get a waterproof lining, and this is protected by a leather palm. I found the fit nice and close, and slightly more dexterous than similarly priced options. The wrist cuff is quite short so it easily slips inside the sleeve of your jacket. A soft nose wipe, wrist loop and cuff drawcord complete a very useful glove that should be ideal for a mixed activity range including walking and climbing. But Mountain Equipment Guide gloves are not as warm as higher-priced options and the wrist cuff does not extend as far up as some others, which could be regarded as a drawback in really wild weather as the wrist is not quite so well protected. Some reflective piping might be useful too.

Verdict
Mountain Equipment Guides are superbly dexterous winter glove for walkers and climbers in mild conditions rather than the wildest of snow storms.

I have to disagree with the above review. I paid £35 for these (as per my review of the general, non-09 glove above) and after use in the Dales (some snow), the Lakes (slightly more snow) and Glencoe/Ben, I'd have to say they are pretty useless. I had to switch to the warmer and drier, spare, $15 jobbies from Tesco's, which just about warmed me up... Will be returning/exchanging ASAP.

Great general winter gloves. Pick them up on sale and you have a real bargain. Mount Keen in 70mph blizzards was their 1st real test, and with a extremities thinny glove underneath for a little more warmth, they were up to the job no problem.
