The Marmot Work Glove is a well-established piece of kit that has been used by Glenmore Lodge instructors when battling against Cairngorm storms. It’s also a pair of gloves that I’ve worn since 2009 and I’ve found them to be ideal for when the foul weather drives in. It is very much a professional workhorse design with a tough leather palm and plenty of insulation. Getting the hand into the depths of the glove is no problem, as the lining does not snag or fold to trap fingers. There is just about enough dexterity to deal with standard zip pulls and operate a compass, but you do get more dexterity from a thinner, less well-insulated glove. The gauntlet design is a good length to protect the wrist area, and can be worn inside or outside a jacket sleeve cuff. The cuff drawcords can be easily tightened or released with a gloved hand too. Nice details include a nose wipe and karabiner loop on the forefinger as well as a wrist leash. The Marmot Work Glove is ideal for regular winter action on snowy mountains, but you might prefer something else for milder conditions.
