The very flexible plate and the substantial thermoplastic cradles make the Grivel G10 New Classic an ideal crampon for winter hill-walking. The 10 spikes are arrayed well to deal with moderately angled snow and the odd venture onto ice. There’s 3D relief stamping throughout for extra strength too. The crampons are supplied with nifty Grivel AntiBott anti-balling plates, which pop out the snow before it has a chance to ball up under you. These plates can also be replaced without the need for tools, which is useful for travellers through the mountains. The binding system is two thermoplastic cradles fastened with a strap, which makes fitting simple. A good set of instructions with diagrams also ensures fitting is easy. But the Grivel G10 New Classic is an out-and-out walking crampon that is a little too flexible for steeper terrain.

I bought a pair of these based upon other reviews and after quite a bit of difficulty sorting out how to fit them correctly found them to be the business and noticed that most other people were wearing them. Whilst i noticed the weight when carried it wasnt noticable when fitted and walking around in these was a doddle As the other review says I wish I had bought them years ago and not have to stop in when it snowed Roll on new winter !!!

Based on your recent review, I went straight out and bought my first crampons. Three days of 1000m+, howling gales, no visibility and concrete-ice pack in the Highlands later, I'm safely back at sea level (shame). I should have bought these many winters ago - what have I been missing!?
