This waterproof jacket has a little extra warmth built into it thanks to the Tricot mesh lining that traps air easily inside the jacket. The fabric is waterproof and breathable too, and the main zip gets a double stormflap to keep the rain out. Velcro adjustable cuffs and a hem drawcord keep the wind out, while small pit zips add a little extra venting if your child is overheating. There are loads of pockets, with two on the chest, two hip and one on the sleeve. The hood is removable and has a drawcord adjuster around the face. There is a good strip of reflective piping across the shoulders and sleeves for night-time activity too.  A fleece collar lining adds a touch of comfort. There are loads of features here so something here will attract every child no doubt. But this is a very heavy jacket. The hood also has a big peak that is not stiffened and there is also no volume adjustment, so this may easily block the child’s vision. The small pit zips don’t open wide enough due to the mesh lining, so they don’t provide much venting. I’m not sure that many children will use all the pockets either.

Verdict: Warmer than most jacket, with more pockets, more weight and less useful hill functionality than others.
