The North Face Resolve

£50.00

LFTO rating rating is 2

This waterproof jacket is made from a quality fabric that’s rated as extremely waterproof, which means it should stay waterproof for longer. The fabric is two-layer, so you get a mesh lining, which adds to the comfort and feel of the jacket. A nice touch is the brushed polyester that lines the collar, adding valuable comfort. Two zipped pockets are provided and the front zip gets a double stormflap to keep the rain out. The cuffs are elasticated for a close fit that should keep out draughts. The hood can be rolled into the collar and it has elastication for a closer fit. You also get a sewn-in label to write the child’s name onto. This jacket has all the essential features and should be ideal for outdoor action.  But a drawcord at the hem would be useful to provide further protection from the wind, while the adjustable cuffs might be more useful to get a closer fit. There is no volume adjuster on the hood either. So all these drawbacks point to ensuring this jacket fits as others have more adjustment.

Outer: 2-layer Hyvent
Inner: mesh
Fabric waterproofness: extremely waterproof
Fabric breathability: very breathable
Sizes: XS-XL (children’s)
Weight: 374g (child’s medium)
Made in Bangladesh
Stores in UK: 28

Verdict: A good all-round outdoor jacket with very good fabric and some good features, but some others offer more adjustment.

Re: The North Face Resolve

Not the most breathable fabric in the world, but for 'occasional users' and the not-so wet days, it does just fine. I tend to use mine for 'going to the pub' in and as a back-up in the car more than anything! For £58 you can't go wrong...
