The Regatta Topspeed/Valentine is a well-established and popular classic jacket. It’s made of Regatta’s own fabric, Isotex 5000, which feels nice and robust. There is a front zip and this has an external stormflap to keep the rain out. There are two zipped hip pockets too. The sleeves get Velcro cuffs so the fit can be adjusted. Unusually for a kids’ jacket there is a small zipped chest pocket too, although I am not sure how useful this will be as it is very small. The hood rolls into the collar so it can be easily stashed when not required. The hood has elastication around the face but no volume adjustment. The best feature in many ways is the reflective piping on the front and back of the sleeves so the wearer of this jacket can be easily seen from all directions. But some other options have double stormflaps on the main zip for even better protection. There is no hem adjustment or hood adjustment, so it is worth making sure the jacket fits pretty well. Some jackets claim higher fabric performance than this.
