The Mantle is quite a short jacket, yet it’s heavy and quite bulky too. This is mainly down to a mesh lining, which is comfortable but unnecessary in this type of jacket, and a stuff-sack pocket that comes with an elastic belt attached. It has a good selection of pockets (none that will take a map) but packaway hood is quite shallow. In its favour, it’s a very good price and the pit-zips will definitely help to keep you cool on uphill sections. Will do a job for those on a budget.
