Berghaus GTX Gaiter 2010

£30.00

Unlike the more traditional elasticated cuff design, Berghaus has opted for a tapered fit with its GTX Gaiter, which means no bunching of excess fabric when you tighten the easy-to-use drawcord. For me these were the best fit of all the gaiters we tested. The design makes for a close fit that I found was perfect, despite the gaiters not being female-specific. I also found the length ideal for my 5ft 6inch frame (a longer version is also available). The Gore-Tex fabric makes these very breathable and the Velcro closure, with a press stud to help line it up, was easy to use. The underboot strap is Velcro-adjustable and is much easier to use (even with gloves on) compared to the buckle design seen on most gaiters, and the easiest to replace should you need to. These are also the lightest gaiters in the final, so they’re ideal if you’re trying to keep weight down. But you can only adjust the underboot straps when the Berghaus GTX Gaiter is off, which could be a faff if they came loose; however I have not found this to be a problem even after long-term use. Those with larger legs may prefer the elasticated design featured in other models tested here.

Fabric Gore-Tex Performance Shell and Ardura 500 fabric
Sizes S/M and L/XL (regular and long lengths)
Colours black
Weight 224g (S/M, regular length)
Made in China

The Berghaus GTX Gaiter is a really easy-to-adjust and very breathable gaiter that won’t cause you any problems even when wearing gloves – great for the price you pay. It won the ‘Best in Test’ award.

I got fed up with putting on waterproof trousers to keep just the bottom of my legs dry,so I bought these. Probably won't wear them all the time, but they are so light I don't mind carrying them in my pack, "just incase". Easy to put on, and remove, don't slip down, and comfortable to wear. Excellent value compared to others I have seen costing more. I was worried they would be too long as I am short in the leg, but the short/regular size fit fine.
