Rab Vapour-Rise

£100.00

LFTO rating rating is 4

This soft shell jacket from Rab is a good fit, with plenty of adjustment at the cuffs and hem, and has a rustle-free hood that is a delight to wear. The soft Pertex outer and fleecy pile lining make a very comfortable combination. Beyond criticism in cooler, nastier conditions, and would win a winter test hands down. But it’s a little warm, heavy and bulky for year-round use.

Verdict: The Vapour-Rise is windproof, shower resistant and incredibly breathable, and is a fantastic jacket for winter or higher altitude walking. A little too warm for summer though.

just to add to my lasy review of this jacket. the chest pocket does fit a map but it is not possablie to get a plastic covered map on there, well if u need a waterproof map you will probably be wearin a waterproof jacket.

I use this with my Rab Latok Alpine and they go together perfectly. Superb comfort and fit, nice long arms and the breathability is excellent. I would strongly recommend it. Only complaint is that it took me a while to find a shop that sells the ladies version - and it is good to try on first, even if you buy online.

Probably the best buy i have made. Kept me warm in the snow on top of kinder, with only a base layer underneath. Very comfortable to wear with it's fleece lining. The hood is very handy and good for stopping the wind, also very good when rolled away in to the collar, making this comfortable on your neck. Shower proof but not heavy rain proof, as expected. Only one bad thing to say, none of the pockets are big enough for a map. oh ye, a little to worm for those warmer days, but that's sounds normal for a soft shell.

Picked one of these up in the Cotswold online sale earlier this year and have never regretted it. Lovely feel, suprisingly warm, very windproof and although I've not worn it in heavy rain, it seems to stand up to showers and Easter Snow. My only small gripe is that it's narrow round the wrists, but then again, all the better for keeping draughts out. Superb hood and pockets and a decent length. Recommended

I love this jacket i wear it when ever i can and its had plenty of use over the winter. Great for a dry cold days scrmbling in north wales...can stand up to drizzle and light showers, l like that the hood turns with your head and is a great fit. I use it with a base layer and a waterproof shell seams to work well for me.

I have a VR smock, and it is one of the best bits of gear I own. Its warm, and very wind resistant, but breathes fantastically. Water repellency is ok, but when raining properly I pull a shell on, usually a Rab Drillium, as the event keeps breathability. It is a bit warm though for summer.

I got mine in a sale so superb value for money! Very warm and comfortable in spring/autumn and also good on nice winter days or with more layers for the bad ones. Packs down well. My only complaint was an a cold and wet Ingleborough afternoon in May (sleeting!) when I had great difficulty putting it on over my tee base layer when my arms were wet - the fleece clings (my only performance reservation) However once on I quickly warmed up. My favourite warm layer and strongly recommended!

Great Kit!!

The Vapour Rise is excellent kit for the colder months, it feels greast next to skin, wicks and breathes really well, and keeps ran at bay for a good while before wetting out. The hood is superb, and the fit is excellent. Works really well with an eVent jacket over it! (Better than with a goretex IMO) I concur though that it is difficult to get the jacket on over wet arms or sleeves.
