Páramo Explorer Pull On

£60.00

Typically of Páramo, this fleece mid layer is dedicated to being functional on the hill. At around 484g it is reasonably lightweight. It can also be worn inside-out if you find it a little too warm. The fabric is very durable and wind-resistant, and will keep light drizzle at bay too. It is a smock design, which allows a large map-sized tunnel pocket to be fitted across the chest with superb access on the move. You also get a hem drawcord and adjustable cuffs. On the hill this is a really useful piece of kit, thanks to the very practical design. The price is good too compared to other options. But it won’t win awards for style, and other tops definitely have the edge if appearance is more important to you than performance. The fabric is not stretchy, so freedom of movement comes from the slightly looser fit. There is no hood either.

Fabric: Parameta S by Nikwax
Sizes: S-XXL
Weight: 484g (size L)
Made in Columbia
UK stores: England 110; Wales 5; Scotland 28; Ireland 2

Verdict: Buy it if you want an practical mid layer with a superb chest pocket as this is ideal for a wide range of activities.

Purchased one of these in a sale for £34. Works well on the hill and copes in light rain and wind. I usually wear it with the fleecy side next to the skin, I haven't tried it the other way around. A little heavier than a fleece or my VR softshell which is what I'd normally throw on when the weather turns a little dull or when resting in windy conditions. It's extremely comfortable and feels fairly bombproof and rugged. As mentioned above, it's not stylish but I'm happy with it. Not sure I'd pay the £60 price tag, but for 34 quid it's definately worth it which is why I've given it 5 stars for VFM.
