This soft shell jacket from Lowe Alpine is a good cut, and the snug, high, fleecy collar is great. However, it’s let down by cuffs that are too tight to pull up – an essential in this kind of jacket. Cut from a light and stretchy wind-resistant fabric, it matches the best in class for performance and handles rain slightly better, but it loses out on temperature range due to those tight cuffs.

Verdict: A light and stretchy jacket that will work year-round, but will need a lightweight fleece beneath it in winter. Decent shower resistance and good breathability, but could do with adjustment on the cuffs.
