This soft shell jacket from Karrimor has a collar that’s a little loose, but otherwise fits well, with good-length sleeves, Lycra adjustable cuffs and a drawcord hem. It doesn’t stretch as well as most, though. An impressive fabric, which breathes well and does a good job in snow and showers, but there’s no venting, which makes it a little steamy at times, and the pockets are low and awkward to access with a pack.

Verdict: A functional lightweight, windshirt-type jacket that will do the job for year-round walking with a lightweight fleece underneath in cooler conditions. It would benefit from some venting though.
