Berghaus Activity Jacket IA

£60.00

LFTO rating rating is 4

This midweight fleece from Berghaus is a touch too big and the fleece cuffs too baggy. The collar is perfect, though, and the drawcord hem does a good job of sealing warmth in. Cut from a lovely, soft, recycled Polartec Thermal Pro fabric, the Activity is a warm and cosy fleece that performs well both as a mid and top-layer. It has good pockets, too, including one for a map.

Colours: Rio red, dark charcoal, rifle, tarmac, black
Sizes: S-XXL
Fabric: Recycled Polartec Thermal Pro 200
Women’s version: Yes

Verdict: A classy fleece with sound environmental credentials that will serve your walking needs well. However, it’s let down by baggy cuffs and the rather odd sizing.

Lovely, soft and warm, I find this fleece the ideal mid-layer for winter hills, over a merino baselayer. Also good as an outer layer when the wind isn't blowing (it's not windproof). The pockets are mesh lined so provide some venting if required. Sizing is odd in so far as I am almost universally a size L. However, this fleece is a size M and a perfect fit.

It doesn't seem as heavy as some mid weight fleeces I've used. It's fairly light weight yet warm, comfortable and fits well. Whilst it is warm I wouldn't go out in anything more than a breeze as the wind cuts straight through this - more than my other various Polartec fleeces. This may be down to it being recycled Polartec (apparently made from old plastic bottles). I tend to use this as a separate casual fleece top or just to keep the chill off on a warm day. David
