Jack Wolfskin Hoggar Nanotex Pants

LFTO rating rating is 4
Owners' rating rating is 4.5

The Hoggar is cut from a nanotex fabric that felt lovely and soft against the skin, more like cotton than the nylon it is made from; and with elasticated panels in the waist and a webbing belt. The more conventional, casual looks of these trousers will suit more conservative walkers, yet they still cut the mustard on a walk, providing decent wind protection and dealing with moisture well. Useful all-rounders, and they also have an excellent choice of pockets. A lot of money, though.

I bought a pair of these from Cotswold Outdoor. They were size Large and turned out to be Euro size 52 which is slightly too large for me. I kept them anyway as they were close enough and I ordered a second pair from Leisure Quest in a size 50 which fitted perfectly. The pants are extremely comfortable with plenty of freedom of movement. The fabric drapes well and has a soft feel though seems to be very durable. The nanotex certainly sheds off water and dirt like a very good DWR. Plenty of useful pockets and the ankles can be cinched in via a velcro strap which keeps them up the boots a bit when the going gets muddy. Altogether my favourite pants though they are pricey.
