These Craghoppers Kiwi Makino shorts fitted well thanks to using a belt with loops. The technical cotton-feel fabric feels soft to walk in and is a good weight for general UK summer use. The fabric is highly water-, stain- and crease-resistant too, so will wash and dry effortlessly. Sensible mid-thigh cut and nicely designed pockets.

Verdict: Smart, stylish shorts that will do you proud for walking, travel, casual wear and, at £25, won’t wilt the wallet either.
