Wild Country Trisar

This 2-person backpacking tent was a classic design for Wild Country (before it changed its name to Terra Nova in the early 1990s). The Trisar was discontinued several years ago but was brought back under the new Wild Country banner for 2005. It is 3-pole geodesic design, so it is very stable and very spacious. It is pitched inner-first with colour-coded poles sliding effortlessly through sleeves on the inner. The outer hooks over the poles ends to create a moveable structure that only needs a few pegs and guylines to hold it down. There is one entrance and the door opens from the centre or the top for excellent venting options. You get a massive porch and a cavernous inner tent. Ventilation control is excellent as you get a separate inner door and mesh net door that can be opened independently. The fabric feels heavier and more hard-wearing than most too, making this a durable, stable and spacious design. But at 3280g it is quite heavy compared to others  in its class. It also pitches inner-first which is not ideal in really wet weather. You don’t get the ladder lock webbing adjustment points either, although you can adjust tension by locating the poles over different eyelets when erecting the tent. But this is a fairly simple, no-frills design.
