MSR Stormking

This is an incredibly spacious and stable 4-person tent that is far easier to pitch than its appearance might suggest. The trick is that all the poles are the same length and each slides through a continuous sleeve on the inner. So pitching is very easy and the flysheet goes over the top where it is attached to the base with ladder-lock adjusters. The result is a tent with a massive inner and a porch at one end that is created using an additional pole. The outer door gets three zip pulls, so it can be opened in a variety of ways to allow venting. There is an additional doorway at the rear that leads directly into the inner tent. But although pitching was easy, it was slower than some other simpler designs. There is only one porch and it is not as large as some others, so gear storage is not as good as it could be. This is an inner-pitched-first tent, so it’s not ideal for putting up in the wet.
