Force Ten Vapour 100 2009

£165.00

LFTO rating rating is 2

The Force Ten Vapour 100 is a very light tent and packs so small it disappears inside your rucksack. It’s a single-skin design with the poles fitting externally, and in rain you can throw your kit inside while you finish pitching. It doesn’t take up a lot of space, so your options for pitching are increased. There are venting options operated from the inside, which help to keep it fresh and hopefully lessen the appearance of condensation. Inside it has the adjustable cords of the TBS (Tension Band System) Pro. They’re essentially internal guy lines that increase tension on the central hoop where the main pole is, and combat the effect of wind. You can feel the effect as you adjust the cords. The Vapour 100 is probably the definition of fast and light, trimmed down as much as possible – shelter without any frills. But there’s no porch, so all your gear is either inside with you, or outside in the elements, and cooking is an issue if the weather is foul. It’s very small inside, almost like a tall bivvy bag. This lack of space meant I continually caught my hands on the TBS cords in the dark. Condensation is still present inside, and the stuffsack was very small for the tent and it split open.

Verdict: For solo fell racers seeking quick shelter the Force Ten Vapour 100 is fine, but for camping comfort a more conventional design is better.

RE: Force Ten Vapour 100 2009

I bought one of these summer 2008 from Gaynors. I don' like it as it does what the name suggests ie fills up with vapour after 100 mins. even with all the vents open i woke up every morning in pools of condensation. it is big enough for me and my 7 yold son, but the rucksac and boots stay out side. disapointed, and will be giving it away as a birthday present or something like that.
