Vaude Triset Ultralight 35 2009

£55.00

If you want to go lighter, try this slim-fitting rucksack with a well-vented back. At 775g the Vaude Triset Ultralight 35 is almost as light as the OMM Classic Marathon 32, but features a more complex back system and comfy mesh hipbelt that’s useful if you really can’t bear back sweat. The curved mesh back doesn’t eat into the main sack and feels comfy against your lower back. It’s ideal for shorter backs and smaller bums to fit within the semi-rigid sack base. Despite a unisex fit, the shoulder straps are narrow and comfy for women. Light fabric and thin string side compression helps bring the weight down, while bungee cord secures fleeces or waterproofs. The yellow rain cover provides high visibility on roads. But there is no underside lid pocket or top attachments for poles or axes (they’d have to slide through the thin, undetachable side compression string). Rain covers can disappear in high mountain winds. If you have a lady-sized bum you might find the more rigid vented back base uncomfy. The base would benefit from a heavier-weight fabric for more durability.

Verdict: The Vaude Triset Ultralight 35 is a slim-fit sack for light summer day walks and  scrambles – and good value for money.

Don't believe this is just a day sack, it's my first choice for weekend wild camps and easily swallows everything i need for a comfortable trip. The side pockets swallow my laser comp tent leaving room inside for everything i need kit wise. The back system works well, the shoulder straps though having very little padding are comfortable, the wrap around zip on the lid allows easy access to those items you need to quick access to. I've been using this for over a year now and i can't find fault with it, the only problem i've had is the waist band wouldn't tighten down enough on me as i'm only a 28 waist, i bought it anyway and modified it slightly to fit. When this one wears out, which there's no sign of yet i'll be buying another.

The best sack i've ever owned. Lightweight, tough, comfortable and user friendly.
