The Vaude is a smart, traditional-looking pack, with a single-buckle lid closure and a cavernous main compartment. Kit separation is simple, with a large pocket on the lid and expansion pockets on each side – ideal for hats, gloves, snacks and water bottles. Features are kept to a minimum, although it has got two walking pole attachments and a rain cover. The harness is comfortable, with narrow shoulder straps to suit women’s shoulders, and a padded waistbelt. It has a good suspended mesh back system too, which allows an adequate flow of air to keep you cool, while keeping the pack fairly close to your back to keep load-carrying stable. And of course, it is hydration system-compatible.
